7 Kids College Fund Challenge: Hot or Cold

Hi everyone!  We have a new challenge up at the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge Blog today!  The new challenge is: Hot or Cold - You choose!  So, create something the depicts either hot or cold.  I've done two cards, one hot and one cold, for this challenge.

Up first is my HOT card.  What's nicer (and warmer) than a nice super day spent at a picnic with a friend? That's what imagined when I saw this wonderful Penny Black Hedgehog Birthday Slapstick Stamp.  The stamp is already mounted on cling mount and ready to be inked for your crafting pleasure! 

All the gorgeous papers are from my new favorite paper pad: the Cosmo Cricket Togetherness 6x6 Paper Pad.  I know, I know, I fall in love with every paper pad, but hey, just look at these gorgeous papers!  The image was colored with Distress Reinkers using the Small Koi Water Brush and the background was colored with Dove Blender Pen with chalks.  The butterflies were handmade and you can find my tutorial on how to make them HERE.  The cake was topped off with Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Holo Iridescent.

Up next is my COLD card.  We were getting pounded with rain here in Southern California all last month, which was absolutely awesome for me.  I love the rain - I would never be using the umbrella like the cutie you see in this image :)  Enough of my babble.

On this really simple card, I used the Crafter's Companion S.W.A.L.K. After the Rain rubber stamp, which is also colored with Distress Reinkers using the Small Koi Water Brush.  I used the Waterfall Stickles to add a bit of glitter to the card.  The DP is from the BasicGrey Marjolaine 6x6 Paper Pad, which I am fast running out of.  The sentiment is from the Whimsy Stamps Snippets Set 1, which was one of the first sets I designed for Whimsy :)

Putting some new stamps to use!

Hello everyone!

There are so many beautiful stamps and papers coming out lately that I can't help but take some time to put them to good use!  I have two cards to share with you which are somewhat different from each other, but still uses some beautiful new-to-me images :)

The first card is a Magnolia card using the elegant and beautiful Star Tilda from the new Magnolia Stamps Merry Little Christmas Collection.  This stamp is in stock an available now at the 7 Kids store HERE.  I threw in a bunch of pearls (I had fun putting it on her headband), some lace, and colored her star wand and dress with Clear Atyou Spica Glitter Pen from Copics. The image was colored using Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush.

The papers are from the GORGEOUS new BasicGrey Curio 6x6 Paper Pad.  These papers are absolutely stunning.  The color combination in this pad is just something I haven't really run across.  New is refreshing!  The Curio Glazed Brads are also on my (ever-growing) wish list!

The second card I'd like to share uses the oh-so-adorable SWALK image called Sunshine.  The stamp is from Crafter's Companion and it's currently available and in stock at the 7 Kids store HERE.  This stamp is reasonably priced, too, considering how big it is.

This little girl was really a pleasure to color :)  Whereas the Tilda stamp took me forever, this was a breeze to color and I even got to put my chalks to use!!  The image as colored with Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush, but I used some chalk for the sky background and the grass.  To apply the chalk, I dabbed my Dove Blender Pen directly into the chalk and just smudged it around.  It's my first time using the Dove Blender Pen and I don't know if I did it right, but I'm okay with how the image turned out :)  The Dove Blender Pen is really easy to work with.

Again, I threw in some pearls for accents.  And again, the paper pad is a newly acquired BasicGrey Majorlaine 6x6 Paper Pad.  I really love the summery colors of this pad.  It's got a lot of different color schemes you can work with; for this card, I went with the more earthly feel.

7 Kids College Fund: Birthdays!

Hello all!  Today we have a new challenge over at the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge Blog!  This week we have another easy one for you: created anything birthday related!

On my card, I've used the very fun Popcorn the Bear Party Time stamp set (it comes with the Party Time sentiment) along with a circle sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Circle Postmarks set.  As usual, the image was colored using Distress Reinkers with the Small Koi Water Brush.  Nowadays, I've been coloring my images with only distress reinkers, but I may go back to using watercolor pencils and blending stumps.  I remember it being so fun coloring that way, but lately I've just been lazy and distress reinkers are so much easier.  The ribbons on the presents were topped with Stickles.

All papers used for this card are from the BasicGrey Oliver 6x6 Paper Pad.  This is card okay for a guy?  I mean, it has guy colors, but then it has that big old bow on top.  I think it would still be okay if a guy got it, at least I hope, lol.
