Sentimental Sundays Challenge #31: A Recipe!

Hello everyone! I'm here today to share a card for the new Sentimental Sundays challenge. This week, we're asking you to use a recipe: 3 patterned papers, 3 buttons, and ribbon. Of course, you must have a sentiment of some kind :)

For this challenge, I made a card using some new sentiments that will be releasing at the Whimsy Stamps Raindrop Echo Designs Digital Sentiments Collection on December 1st. The frame is from a new set called "Label Frame - Script," the Christmas sentiment is from a set called "Christmas Sentiments" and the Let it snow circle sentiment is from the "Season's Greeting Sentiments." I recolored the frame and I'm planning to do a tutorial on how to do that soon! Again, these sentiments will be released on December 1st, along with some wonderful new images from Crissy and Melissa. I also used some Whimsy Designer Papers from the Holiday Folly paper pack. I love the soft colors in this pack!

More Christmas cards, you ask? The answer is: Yes. I can't help it - there's just so many great images and papers to work with this Christmas!

This first card uses the digital wonderful image form Crissy Armstrong called Classic Santa. The sentiment is from the rubber stamps sentiment set called Winter Letter Seals. The Stickles actually is more clear than pink, but I have no idea why it showed up so pink in the picture! Sorry about that!

This second card uses a sentiment from the soon-to-be released Season's Greeting Sentiments. It'll be released on December 1st. I've paired it up with some papers from the Whimsy Designer Paper pack called Very Merry.

Tickled Pink Stamps Sentiment + Die Cut Release!

It's time for the release of the Tickled Pink Christmas Sentiments and matching die cut at Tickled Pink Stamps!

Kellie has graciously asked me if I would like to join the Pink Ladies for the sentiment and die cut release and since I already had a card done, of course I said yes! Does that mean I get to be called a Pink Lady for a day? lol

First, I would like to mention I learned a lesson when making my card: Never EVER glue images when the ink is still drying. Duh. As you can see, the candy cane on the tree got all smeared up because I was too impatient to wait for it to dry before gluing it all together, but I think Willow still looks great despite my boo-boo :) It's a great thing that the image is so well drawn or else all I would be able to see is my horrible mistake. Lesson learned, I think.

For my card, I've used the lovely Lil Christmas Lolita Willow stamp with the Tickled Pink Christmas Sentiment set. You can use the sentiment and frame as an accent, or have it peek from behind the image, or as the main focus of your card....it's pretty versatile! Some of the Pink Ladies have used it as tags, which I thought was an AWESOME idea! I stayed away from the Stickles this time (and yes, I really did use half a bottle for the last card). Instead, I added in some pearls and some flowers, a girl's best friends :) This card also fits the challenge at Dutch Dare (Sketch) and at Creative Belli (R for red flower and paper).

Kellie contacted me a couple of months ago and the happy marriage between Raindrop Echo Designs and Tickled Pink Stamps began and we're now in our honeymoon phrase. The lovely and oh-so-talented Pink Ladies (don't you just love their name?!) are starting to show previews of the new sentiment set and matching die cut.

If you haven't already, then you MUST check out their stunning creations at the Tickled Pink Stamps Blog and at the design team members' blogs. Geez, they are over-the-top, drop-dead gorgeous creations. You also have a chance to win the sentiment set and die cut! Trust me, you won't regret visiting. Oh, and have you seen some of the new Lil Lolita and Lil Lads images that were just released for Christmas? They are amazing images! You can get the ENTIRE Lil Christmas Collection as a bundle HERE at a special, discounted price. They come out to be a really reasonable price if you purchase the whole collection. For my card today, I've used Lil Christmas Lolita Lilith. Doesn't she make for a great Santa? I've also used the new Christmas sentiment set (releasing in the next couple of days) on my card. I paired up her with papers from the BasicGrey Jovial 6x6 Paper Pad and used about half a bottle of Stickles, lol. The Stickles looks a lot better in real life, but refused to be photographed well. The edges of the images were sponged with Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool using the Vintage Photo Distress Ink Pad.

7 Kids College Fund: Non-traditional Chirstmas Colors!

Where have the days gone?? I feel like the days are hours, hours are minutes, and minutes are seconds. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and pretty soon it's Christmas and then the year will be over! What a year it was....

Anywho, before I get too nostalgic, I'd like to share my card with you! This is for the new 7 Kids College Fund Challenge that was posted today. For the next two weeks, we want you to use Non-Traditional Christmas Colors on your creations. I hope my card counts! I always think of Christmas colors as red and green, maybe gold, but lately, so many people have been using blue that I feel like it's becoming a norm now.

I've used another Whiff of Joy image called Henry Mouse with Christmas Bauble; he's colored with Distress Reinkers using the Small Koi Water Brush. I adore all the Henry Mouse images! The papers I used were from the BasicGrey Olivia 6x6 Paper Pad and paired it up with lots of Prima and WOC flowers.

I put a snowflake die cut behind the flower on the top left, but you can't really see it. I put some glitter using my Clear Atyou Spica Glitter Pen from Copics (can't see this so well in the picture either) on the snowflake on the bauble and used Stickles on Henry's hat. I layered the Large Circle Nestabilities die cut on top of the Labels Three die cut. I've been wanting the Labels Three Nestabilities set for a while now and I finally caved in after seeing so many wonderful creations of people layering it with the circle die cuts.

The highlight lines were made using Inkssentials Opaque White Pen. I'm STILL trying to figure out where to put these darn lines. The border die is Marianne D. and the die cut leaves are from the Shapeabilities Assorted Leaves set.

A thankful heart - Sentimental Sundays Challenge

Hello everyone! It's time for another Sentimental Sundays Challenge and this time, we're asking you to create something with a "Thank You" theme. Even though Thanksgiving is coming up for those in the US, you don't have to create something specifically for Thanksgiving - just anything that shows gratitude or mentions gratitude.

For my card, I've used papers my new BasicGrey Curio paper stack. Oh my goodness, the papers in this pad are just plain gorgeous! I thought this DP in particular went very well with the Leafy Oval from Whimsy Stamps. The Leafy Oval set comes with one that's filled in with a sentiment and one that's blank that you can use with your other favorite sentiments :) I stuck a sentiment in from the Gratitude Sentiments set, also from Whimsy Stamps. I just love this quote!

Oh, and you will be noticing some new die cuts in my creations! I caved in and bought some Marianne Designs Creatables die cuts from an online store in the UK and I am just in LOVE with them. The swirls/flourishes are just so delicate and beautiful. The die cuts well, but my only problem with them is that they don't have "poke holes" like the Spellbinders dies and like the other dies that you see popping up in lots of other stamp companies now. Those poke holes would have made me love the Marianne D's dies even more, but they're still beautiful designs so I'll definitely be using them a lot :)

A little clarification: A couple of you (thank you!) have nicely pointed out to me the trick about getting these dies out by using wax paper. My deal about them isn't actually about the die not popping out, but about the little cut-outs staying in. I have to dig the little cutouts (like the holes you see in the flower) out of the die using my paper piercer. Anyone have any advice on any easy way to do this?

Sammy with Licorice

I'm back for a second time today!

Have I told you all yet how much I love the weekends? I get to craft and relax, even though this weekend I did take some work home. I hate taking work home, but sometimes it takes off some stress during the weekdays so I'm willing to do it here and there. Anywho, I know no one wants to hear about work on a Saturday :)

I have to a card to share for you using the adorable Whiff of Joy image called Sammy with Licorice. This image was illustrated by Alison Acton and is currently available at the 7 Kids College Fund store HERE. The Christmas sentiment is also from Whiff of Joy's Season's Greetings sentiment set, which is also available at 7 Kids HERE. The image was colored with my trusty Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush. I used Stickles on Sammy's hat.

I broke out my poor, neglected Fiskars Leave it to Weaver Border Punch for this card. I don't know why I don't use this border punch more often because I really do adore threading ribbon and the effect that it gives. It just gives it that "I took time to make this" look, don't you think?

For this card I've used lots of Whimsy Stamps papers from the Holiday Folly pack as well as the NEW Whimsy Stamps "Winter's Jewel" snowflake die. Although it's only one die, you can layer it by cutting it a certain way, like I have on this card :)

Feeling brown

Hi everyone! Wow, it feels like it's been so long since I've posted! Things have been getting pretty busy for me and I just haven't had much time to do all the "fun stuff" that I want to do. I'm sure you must be feeling the same, with holidays around the corner and everything :)

This is just a quick post to share some quick Christmas cards. I need to do some mass production of holiday cards so that's what I did for these. Kept them kind of simple focusing on the image and using some brown holiday paper that I love. I used a few Lili of the Valley images that haven't been used as much as they should, along with a Whiff of Joy image that I adore, but hadn't had time to use.

The first two LOTV cards also fit the challenge over at the LOTV Challenge Blog: Glitter and Glitz.

Showcasing some Whimsy paper (and stamps)

As I mentioned before, I got some new goodies in the mail the other day - Whimsy Designer papers! Today I'm showcasing both of the packs: Holiday Folly and Very Merry. Holiday Folly contains that are softer, more subtle, and Very Merry has papers that are brighter and bolder. You can see that your cards can come out look pretty different depending on which papers you use :)

I've also used Whimsy stamps from the October release. The first one is uses the image "Santa's Midnight Snack" from Crissy Armstrong along with the Holiday Ticket Sentiments. Oh, and I've finally had a chance to use the Whimsy Stamps Ticket Die! Look how cleanly it cuts! I tried doing the whole "dramatic shadows" coloring thing with lots of white space again. Again, I'm still trying to figure out where the highlights are supposed to go. Does anyone have any tips?? I created the snowflakes from Shapeabilities Create a Flake 1 and Create a Flake 2 dies and added some pale pink pearls in the middle.

The second card also uses one of Crissy's beautiful drawings from the Vintage Christmas set. The poinsettia image goes so well with the Very Merry papers because, well, we used the poinsettia image to make those papers! Crissy gorgeously colored them and I arranged them. Of course, my coloring is not as great as Crissy, and I managed to NOT match the poinsettia color with the paper color, but if you do it right, your papers should exactly match the image :) Sorry for the blurry picture - I just couldn't get it right and it kept coming out the same way!

This is my attempt at trying to color the way you're supposed to color when you use Distress Reinkers. I'm not saying I succeeded, but I did try : /

I've always admired the coloring of Camilla and Hanna, but I've never really been able to achieve the dramatic effects that they do when they color. I'm just in awe at the deep shadows they have on their images - they're stunning! Make sure to visit their blog if you have time. You won't regret it.

Oh...and did you notice the gorgeous papers on my card?? Yes, you guessed it - they're the Whimsy Stamps Designer Papers from the Holiday Folly pack that released on November 10th! They arrived so quickly, which is great, because I was eager to make something with them.

Speaking of new things, this is also the first time that I'm using my brand spankin' new Tonic 12x12 Guillotine Paper Cutter. This cutter is awesome!! It's so great that it's currently sold out right now at 7 Kids College Fund, but make sure you keep checking back.

I made an nontraditional pink Christmas cards with my fresh-out-of-the-post-office Magnolia Angel Tilda stamp from 7 Kids College Fund. This stamp is currently a pre-order that's expected to ship mid-November. Speaking of Magnolia Stamps, have you been able to browse through the Merry Little Christmas Collection yet? I think this is my favorite collection to date. There are so many wonderful stamps to choose from!

I stamped a "border" around the stamp using a flourish from one of my Whimsy sets (I don't know which one, sorry!). I added in a cluster of flowers from WOC at one corner and some pearls on the other. I also tried to add in some highlight lines using the Inkssentials Opaque White Pen from Ranger, but I'm still trying to figure out where they're supposed to go : /

Hello again :)

I have a get well card to share with you that I made for Tab's son. If you haven't heard about what happened to him, you can read about it here. I thought maybe he needed some cheering up, even though his mom made him smile for a picture already :)

This card was made using the ever-so-cute Henry Mouse. This particular card uses Henry Mouse with Broken Leg, which was colored with my Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush. The stamp also comes with the perfectly coordinating sentiment that you see on the card! Even though what happened is not funny, I thought it was soooo appropriate and I knew I just had to send this card off to him.

In THIS CARD which I made for the new 7 Kids College Fund challenge, which is GIVE THANKS, I was raving about how I love October Afternoon papers, and for this card, I've used papers again from the Fly a Kite 8x8 paper pad, which comes with 34 sheets!

The green dotty paper was punched using the Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edge Border Punch and topped off with ribbon :)

7 Kids College Fund Challenge #8: Thank You

Hello all! Happy Wednesday :)

Are you ready for another 7 Kids College Fund Challenge?! Well, you better be because the PRIZE this week is a great one. I wish I could enter, lol. The PRIZE this week is a whopping $75 Gift Certificate to the 7 Kids College Fund store!! Tab has decided to give such a generous prize to say thank you for all the well wishes that she received for Aaron. We all hope that he's doing well and still wish him the best.

Well, I guess before you can win the prize, you have to know what the challenge is. The challenge this week couldn't be any easier and more appropriate: we want to see creations with a "Thank You" theme. See, easy right?

For my challenge card, I've used the super cute Whiff of Joy Henry Mouse Hugging Heart stamp. This image remains to be one of my favorite Whiff of Joy images ever - just look at how precious he is! And he's very versatile. He was colored with Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush. After I photographed the card, I actually used my Clear Atyou Spica Glitter Pen to add some dazzle to the heart, but I was too lazy to take a picture. You'll just have to trust me that it added a nice effect to it :)

OH!! Did you notice the gorgeous papers?! Well, 7 Kids College Fund now carries the October Afternoon Fly a Kite and and Thrift Shop 8x8 paper pads! I just adore these papers and it actually pains me to have to cut them up, but when I do, I am always pleased with how my card turns out. I know that once you see the papers in this pad, you will also fall in love with them, too. I've used papers from the Fly a Kite pad.

For this card, I went with a cleaner, less-embellished look. The added some green pearls and some die cuts from the Shapeabilities Doodle Part set, added some lace to soften the design, and punched out the border using the Martha Stewart Doily Hearts Edge Punch. Thank You Blog Candy!

Hello everyone! I promised myself I wouldn't get sentimental and that this is going to be a short post so that's what I'll try do :)

Thanksgiving is coming up and I wanted to give away some blog candy to say thank you for everything that has happened this year. I've been very fortunate to have been given the chance to work with good people and better yet, to have met great friends. I am lucky.

I have two giveaways up for grabs

Looking for a Sponsorship Coordinator!

Raindrop Echo Designs Digital Sentiments, a division of Whimsy Stamps, is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and outgoing individual to take on the roll as Sponsorship Coordinator! I'm searching for someone who is a people-person, a good communicator, and genuinely loves sentiments.

Benefits:
- Access to all existing and future digital sentiments at Whimsy Stamps during your term. New sentiments are released every month.
- A custom digital watermark and/or signature for your personal use
- A monthly gift certificate of $10 at the Whimsy Stamps store (negotiable)

What's expected:
- Someone who is enthusiastic and easy to communicate with.
- Minimum commitment of 3 months, from December 1, 2010 to March 1, 2010
- Set up and handle sponsorships at various blogs and/or forums for Raindrop Echo Designs Digital Sentiments, with a monthly minimum of 4 sponsorships per month.
- Be able to use a Gmail email account to conduct all sponsorship communication. An email account will be provided for your use.

Whimsy Stamps Sneak Day 2 - Christmas Tree in Words set

Hello all! Yep, I told you it was going to be a busy week!

Today I have another sneak peak of a rubber sentiment set called Christmas Tree in Words that will be releasing tomorrow at Whimsy Stamps! Yep, tomorrow is the big day. I have two blog hops tomorrow and a challenge card to post so I hope I can keep everything straight and have everything posted on time : /

Anywho, I must admit (and my Whimsy DT sisters can vouch for it) that at first I had a difficult time trying to figure out how to use this stamp. I designed it, and I had envisioned using it a certain way, but I'm no good at CAS cards and it was difficult for me to come up with some these. Well, they were finally able to materialize and I'm very happy with the results. I think the wonderful DCWV papers really helped :)

For this creation, I've used the name sentiment from the Christmas Tree in Words stamped in Rich Cocoa and I've punched some borders using my Martha Stewart border punches. I've topped off the sentiment panels with some ribbon. I hope you like my set of cards!
