First Christmas card of 2011!

Happy Friday!

Yep, you read right - this is my first Christmas card of 2011!  I actually feel like I'm behind on Christmas cards already.  I have a LONG list and I'm worried that I won't be able to cross everyone off.

Thankfully, there are some beautiful Christmas/holiday papers and embellishments already available at Pumpkin Spice so it made this card very easy to put together.  I used the oh-so-lovely MME Lost and Found Christmas papers from the 6x6 paper pad and a sentiment panel from the matching accessory sheet.  The accessory sheet is actually 12x12 so you can get loads of cards done with it.  I absolutely adore the rich, deep, and traditional colors in this collection!

Also, there's so need to stay within a certain collection/line when making something!  I used the Echo Park Happy Days Brad Assortment for the pearl center of the poinsettia on the upper right and also for the rhinestone center of the poinsettia on the lower left.  I thought these brads added the perfect touch to the flowers.

And since this card had no coloring, it was quick to make.  I'm actually rather pleased about how it turned out and I hope you like it, too :)

Sentiment: from My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found Christmas - Accessory Sheet ; Papers: My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found Christmas - 6 x 6 paper pad; Embellishments: Echo Park "Happy Days" - Happy Days Brad Assortment, Prima flowers and leaves, twine, doily; Tools: Tonic Guillotine Cutter, ATG Adhesive Gun (SPS has it for $18.89!)

Quick tip for using 6x6 papers on larger cards (this card is 5x7): The trick (if you can call it that) I always use is to cover up where you joined the two different papers with ribbon or lace.  That way, it breaks up the papers while making it look cohesive, gives it a bit of contrast, and I think makes the card a little more interesting.

Butterfly Fairy

Hi everyone!

Just a quick post to share a card I made for fun!  I hardly ever get to do that anymore so I'm happy about this one :)  Not to say that this one is anything to cheer about, but I do really like how tender the flower turned out on Crissy's beautiful Fairy Daydreams (available at Whimsy).  I just love this image!  I'm doing the no-lines thing again, which I thought had a lovely effect with this soft and tender fairy.  Too bad I colored the stem so brightly, but oh well, one can always improve!  The background is a Make It Crafty Tulip Garden digi, which is greedily snagged during Zoe's sale.  I couldn't pass up such a great deal!  Nowadays my images feel so empty and "floaty" when I don't have a background.  The little postmark is from the Whimsy Stamps Birthday Postage Stamp Sentiments and the butterflies are from the newly release Whimsy Elegant Butterflies Dies set.

Hope your week is off to a good start! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Whimsy Stamps Fairy Daydreams and Make it Crafty Tulip Garden digi, sentiment from Whimsy Stamps Birthday Postage Stamp Sentiments; Medium: Copics on X-Press It Blending Card; Papers: MME Six by Six "Vanity Fair" paper pad (SPS has it for $4.19!); Embellishments: May Arts, MME Happy Days pearl brad, pearls, Stickles; Tools: Tonic Guillotine Cutter, ATG Adhesive Gun (SPS has it for $18.89!)

Victoria's Garden

Hello everyone!

Thanks for stopping by today. I'm supposed to have two more posts (one of Fuzzy Wuzzy and the other for Pink Ink Sketch), but I've been way too tired and after that feat with the magazine, I just decided to take a break from most of my design stuff, EXCEPT for Pumpkin Spice of course :)

For today's SPS share, I've used some gorgeous papers from the recently released Echo Park Victoria Garden Collection.  The patterns and colors are absolutely amazing in this collection and I'm kicking myself for not ordering some of the individual papers and journaling cards, which is of course all available at Pumpkin Spice for super low prices.  Check it out:

For today's card, I've used papers from the  Echo Park - "Victoria Garden" 6x6 Pad and paired it up with a colored scene using Make It Crafty images.  I used the "no lines" thing that's popular right now at the Make It Crafty Facebook group.  It's my first attempt at the technique so constructive criticism is welcome!  Although the image is named Pipi, I'm deciding to call this card Victoria's Garden to match the papers I used :)

Well, that's it for me this Friday.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Images: Make it Crafty Mushroom House and Pipi; Coloring medium: Copics on X-press It Blending Card; PapersEcho Park - "Victoria Garden" 6x6 Pad - only $4.19 at SPS!; Embellishments: WOC flowers, trim; Tools: ATG Adhesive Gun (SPS has it for $18.89!), Memory Makers distressing tool, Ranger Liquid Pearls in Platinum Pearl

I'm one of those prize draws!  I'm giving away the Retro Bottle Cap Sentiments set pictured below. I may be biased, but I really like this set.  The words are so fun and really remind me of good ol' soda pop bottles :)

To enter for a chance to win this stamp, just enter your information into InLinkz. You do NOT need a blog to enter - you can leave the URL blank and just fill in the Name and Email and click Submit.

Now, on to my creation for the hop! I almost didn't have a creation today!  I don't know what I would have done, maybe just do a digital version of a card or something, haha.  The magazine took up more time than I thought and of course, being the procrastinator that I am, I was scrambling to take care of things at the last minute.  It's a rather simple card, though the coloring does look better in the person.  I couldn't take a decent picture at all!

And and of course it'd probably be helpful if I mentioned the stamps, right?  For this card, I used Buggin' Drummer from KennyK and the Film Marker Sentiments.

Stamps: Whimsy Stamps Buggin' Drummer, Film Marker Sentiments.; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Coloring medium: Copics on X-press It Blending Card; Paper: BasicGrey; Embellishments: twine

Now it’s time for you to continue the hop by hopping over to the amazingly talented, dedicated and just all-around gorgeous Iris!!

Finally, here is a complete blog hop list in hopping order:

Thank you so much for hopping with us today and I hope you enjoy the new release!

Whimsy Stamps Showcase Day 2

Hello!  This is my third post today so please scroll down to take a look at the other posts that went up earlier today :)

Yep, it's showcase time for Whimsy Stamps!  The new stamps and dies for August were made available on August 10th so feel free to grab them at the Whimsy Stamps store now!  Of course, you can always get them at your favorite retailer :)

For today's showcase, I've used sentiments from the Vintage Seed Package set and used the butterflies from the Elegant Butterflies die set.  I must say, I love the big, frilly butterfly, though I am a bit biased, lol.   I made two cards that are similar, but just somewhat different.  It was a bit difficult to take pictures of these light cards under low light so I apologize for the sub-par pictures.

As always, you can stop by the Whimsy Stamps Blog to find a list of the designers showcasing their creations for this month's release.  Tomorrow I'll be showcasing another card and on Wednesday, August 17th, we're celebrating the release with a hop!  Make sure you join us for a chance to win some prizes :)

Stamps: Whimsy Stamps Vintage Seed Package; Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa; Paper: Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden; Embellishments: lace trims, Viva Decor Pearl Pen, Ranger Liquid Pearl; Tools: Elegant Butterflies, Cuttlebug, Spellbinder dies

TPS Lil Spinks and Spooks Preview Day 7!

Hi everyone! Today is the second-to-last day for previews of the upcoming release of the Tickled Pink Stamps Lil Spinks and Spooks collections and also a Halloween sentiments set that is compatible with the Pink Christmas die.  The new release will be available at the store on August 15th which is just two days away!

The stamp of the day is....
Lil Haunt 2 Vampire Lestat

Well, of course with a name like Lestat he has to be a vampire!  For today's creation, I used the stamp of the day along with a sentiment from the Spinks and Spooks Halloween Sentiments.  I stamped the "have a BOOTIFUL day" sentiment inside the frame stamp then cut it out using the Pink Christmas Die.
Okay, so today you must (no really) head over to the Tickled Pink Stamps Blog because there are some pretty darn scary creations.  The gals really out-did themselves today.  Wow, just WOW!  Wish I was only half as creative!  This is about as daring as I can get, haha.  Oooh fake blood using a Viva Decor Pearl Pen....ooooh scary!

Stamps: Tickled Pink Stamps Lil Haunt 2 Vampire Lestat and Spinks and Spooks Halloween Sentiments; Medium: Copics on X-press It Blending Card; Papers: Bo Bunny Paper Pad 6"x 6" Timepiece (SPS has it for $4.19)Embellishments: cotton, Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Red; Tools: Tickled Pink Stamps Pink Christmas Die, Cuttlebug, ATG Adhesive Gun (SPS has it for $18.89!)
