Ribbon Tilda

It's been soooo long since I've used a Magnolia stamp, but I got to play with one last night!  I chose Ribbon Tilda, who is just absolutely adorable.

I actually don't have any idea what what's going on with this card, lol.  I stated with two pieces of patterned paper and tried to follow the sketch at Dutch Magnolia Lovers (it's still there), but then kept piling things on and on and ended up with what you see below, lol.  The ornaments are from the Seasonal Ornaments sentiment set and they were cut out using the Ornaments Die Set.  I also went kind of crazy with the gold glitter : /  I also used as many of my new Cheery Lynn Designs dies as I could.  Yeah, I know, I have no idea what I was thinking.

Cupcake Inspirations Guest Sweetie

The wonderful gals at Cupcake Inspirations chose me as this week's Guest Sweetie and Rachel asked if I would like to play along.  Of course I said yes because I love their challenges over there.  Plus, I was having huge cardmaking withdrawals from all the studying.

This week they have a very appropriate cupcake inspiration picture to get those lovely Valentine Day cards done.  Don't you miss getting those V-day cards in elementary school?  I do, but maybe I'm just crazy.  It was so interesting who chose what type of card, lol.  I remember some boys giving away Power Ranger V-day cards...how romantic :)

The above picture is the inspiration picture for this week and below is the card I chose to make for it.  Hope you see the connection.  The sentiment was handwritten (crookedly) by me since I didn't have something small enough to fit in there, or actually, I was too lazy to hunt for one that was small enough.

Oh! And this is the first time I've used seam binding!  I've had it for a few weeks, but haven't had time to put it to good use.  It was originally white (same as the one Tilda is sitting on), but I used some stamp pads (two shades of red, and a black stamp pad) to "distress it."  I pretty much just randomly stamped the stamp pads on the seam binding while it was on a scrap piece of paper.  I rather like the effect and think it matches the card perfectly :)  Sadly, I didn't have time yet to decorate the inside.

I've used the sketch at Sketch and Stash.  My unused stash is the seam binding and the border punch and I also used my old, neglected embossing folder.

Sweet (and bright) Tilda

I hope that everyone is having a fantastic New Year's Day and that your New Year's Eve was both safe and exciting!

I'd like to kick off 2011 with a card using Sweet Tilda from the Magnolia Stamps Raising The Ceiling Collection.  I think she's one of the cutest Tildas out there!  The image was colored with Distress Reinkers using the Small Koi Water Brush.  The edges were inked using the Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool and a yellow and blue stamp pad. I added some highlights using the Inkssentials Opaque White Pen from Ranger.

I used papers from the October Afternoon Modern Homemaker 8x8 Paper Pad.  There are a lot of bright papers in this pad which I thought goes perfectly with Sweet Tilda.  I've paper pieced her dress and her socks to match.

I kept the card simple with some net ribbon, striped twill ribbon, and baker's twine.  I added some blingy rhinestones to the card to give a little more girly-ness :)

Secret Tilda

Hiya everyone!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas (those who celebrate it) and that everyone has something exciting (or at the least relaxing) planned for New Year's.

Today I'd like to share with you a card using Magnolia's Secret Tilda form the Merry Little Christmas Collection.  Although, as you can tell, she's not only a cutie but is also a very versatile image!  I can definitely see myself using this image for lots of birthday cards.  The image was cut out using my Cuttlebug and Mega Nestabilities Labels 8.

I've colored her using Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush.  There was a little bleed from her hair onto her headband :(  Didn't notice it until after I took the picture, but I'll definitely be covering that up with some pearls or something, lol. 
 
All the papers are from the October Afternoon Schoolhouse 8x8 Paper Pad.  I love all October Afternoon papers and this one is also a must.  Loooove the subtle tones on these papers and they coordinate so well with a lot of the distress ink colors.  The sentiment is from the Whimsy Stamps Ticket Sentiments.

Tilda with Hanging Heart

I was able to play with some of my new goodies this weekend!

This card is a tad different because it's darker than my usual cards, but I do love the dramatic look of it.  I've used Tilda With Hanging Heart from the new Merry Little Christmas collection from Magnolia Stamps.  This is the first time she's been inked up.  She was colored using Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush.  I used some Stickles on her wings, although I apologize that it's not showing up so well in this picture.  All papers used are from the BasicGrey Majorlaine 6x6 Paper Pad.

This is also one of the first times I've used my Viva Decor Pearl Pens!  These pearl pens are an absolute must!  I can't believe I haven't discovered them before.  You can pretty much create an size of pearl you want.  They look great and it's very easy to create rounded pearls.  For this card, I've used the pearls to create an outline behind Tilda.  The Pearl Pen colors I've used are the Light Blue, Silver, and Light Green. I've ordered a few other colors so you'll be seeing these a lot!  7 Kids College Fund has them in stock HERE at a very reasonable price if you wanted to try them out yourself :)

This is also my first time using the Elegant Flourishes die from Tim Holtz.  I've been wanting this die for a while now, but I just didn't think I could do it justice.  I tried to do that for this card, but I think there are so many more possibilities for these flourishes.  Also a brand new addition to my die collection is the Spellbinders Nestabilities Lacey Circles.  I layered it on top of the Nestabilities Large Classic Scalloped Circles.

Putting some new stamps to use!

Hello everyone!

There are so many beautiful stamps and papers coming out lately that I can't help but take some time to put them to good use!  I have two cards to share with you which are somewhat different from each other, but still uses some beautiful new-to-me images :)

The first card is a Magnolia card using the elegant and beautiful Star Tilda from the new Magnolia Stamps Merry Little Christmas Collection.  This stamp is in stock an available now at the 7 Kids store HERE.  I threw in a bunch of pearls (I had fun putting it on her headband), some lace, and colored her star wand and dress with Clear Atyou Spica Glitter Pen from Copics. The image was colored using Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush.

The papers are from the GORGEOUS new BasicGrey Curio 6x6 Paper Pad.  These papers are absolutely stunning.  The color combination in this pad is just something I haven't really run across.  New is refreshing!  The Curio Glazed Brads are also on my (ever-growing) wish list!

The second card I'd like to share uses the oh-so-adorable SWALK image called Sunshine.  The stamp is from Crafter's Companion and it's currently available and in stock at the 7 Kids store HERE.  This stamp is reasonably priced, too, considering how big it is.

This little girl was really a pleasure to color :)  Whereas the Tilda stamp took me forever, this was a breeze to color and I even got to put my chalks to use!!  The image as colored with Distress Reinkers with Small Koi Water Brush, but I used some chalk for the sky background and the grass.  To apply the chalk, I dabbed my Dove Blender Pen directly into the chalk and just smudged it around.  It's my first time using the Dove Blender Pen and I don't know if I did it right, but I'm okay with how the image turned out :)  The Dove Blender Pen is really easy to work with.

Again, I threw in some pearls for accents.  And again, the paper pad is a newly acquired BasicGrey Majorlaine 6x6 Paper Pad.  I really love the summery colors of this pad.  It's got a lot of different color schemes you can work with; for this card, I went with the more earthly feel.

This is my attempt at trying to color the way you're supposed to color when you use Distress Reinkers.  I'm not saying I succeeded, but I did try : /

I've always admired the coloring of Camilla and Hanna, but I've never really been able to achieve the dramatic effects that they do when they color.  I'm just in awe at the deep shadows they have on their images - they're stunning!  Make sure to visit their blog if you have time.  You won't regret it.

Oh...and did you notice the gorgeous papers on my card??  Yes, you guessed it - they're the Whimsy Stamps Designer Papers from the Holiday Folly pack that released on November 10th!  They arrived so quickly, which is great, because I was eager to make something with them. 

Speaking of new things, this is also the first time that I'm using my brand spankin' new Tonic 12x12 Guillotine Paper Cutter.  This cutter is awesome!! It's so great that it's currently sold out right now at 7 Kids College Fund, but make sure you keep checking back.

I made an nontraditional pink Christmas cards with my fresh-out-of-the-post-office Magnolia Angel Tilda stamp from 7 Kids College Fund.  This stamp is currently a pre-order that's expected to ship mid-November.  Speaking of Magnolia Stamps, have you been able to browse through the Merry Little Christmas Collection yet?  I think this is my favorite collection to date.  There are so many wonderful stamps to choose from! 

I stamped a "border" around the stamp using a flourish from one of my Whimsy sets (I don't know which one, sorry!).  I added in a cluster of flowers from WOC at one corner and some pearls on the other. I also tried to add in some highlight lines using the Inkssentials Opaque White Pen from Ranger, but I'm still trying to figure out where they're supposed to go : /

Tilda with Lacey Flag

Hi everyone!  I hope your weekend was a good one :)  I got a lot of crafting done, which I'm very happy about because it's been a while since I've been able to just create for no reason than just pure fun. 

I used one of my newest Magnolia Stamps today called Tilda with Lace Flag.  She just looks so sweet marching around with her flag!  All the papers used on this card came from the BasicGrey Pyrus 6x6 Paper Pad, which is one of the newest releases from BasicGrey. 

I've really been into creating panels lately and layering different-shaped Nestabilities.  This time, for the two panels in the back, I've layered the Nestabilities Labels 1 on top of the Large Classic Scalloped Squares.  I blinged out with flowers with some Stickles to give them a little pizazz and added some texture to the circle using the Bloom Dots A2 Embossing Folder. 

As you can see, a lot of the supplies I used are available at the 7 Kids Store so make sure to hop on over to the store to pick up a few goodies!

A Haunting Challenge from 7 Kids College Fund!

Happy middle of the week!  Can the middle of the week be happy? Of course; it means the week is already half-way over :)

Welcome to another 7 Kids College Fund Challenge!  This week, we're asking you to create a fall themed or Halloween creation using the wonderful sketch by Lisa Andrews.  We also have an optional challenge to combine two stamps on your creation.  Make sure you visit the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge Blog to play along! We have a great prize this week, but you must use a stamp that is carried by the 7 Kids store to be eligible.

Since I don't have very many Halloween stamps (NONE to be exact), I used some two Magnolia stamps, instead: Captain Edwin and Spanish Tilda.  Does it make sense?  They're supposed to be dressed in their costumes and out trick-or-treating.  I hope this make sense, lol.  I used papers from the BasicGrey Eerie 6x6 Paper Pad, which is the quintessential paper pad for Halloween cards.  It just goes perfectly for all your spooky creations.

The sentiment is from the Whimsy Stamps Halloween Ticket Sentiments set which will be releasing at the Whimsy Stamps Store tomorrow along with another Halloween Sentiments set which I've cut out and put on a die cut from the Tim Holtz Ticket Strip Die (also available from 7 Kids).  ALL the Whimsy Ticket Sentiments fit very nicely in these dies because they are the perfect proportions!  I could, of course, just cut them out, but the wonderful thing about the die is that it has nice perforations at the end of the tickets, like real tickets do.  You can click each product below to be taken to their product page.

Standing Fall Tilda and Hive Creative Challenge

I hope you're all having a great start of the week so far! Today was a real Monday for me; wow did it pass by slowly.  Hope yours was better than mine :)

Today I'm sharing with you one of the first Magnolia Tilda stamps I ever bought called Standing Fall Tilda from the Halloween and Autumn Collection, which is available at 7 Kids HERE.  There are so many challenges right now with a Fall theme so I couldn't resist inking up this sweet Tilda image :)  I went for a more simple look with this card (at least simple for me), gave it a little texture with the Swiss Dots Embossing folder and added a little dazzle with some gemstones.  Of course, my image is colored with distress reinkers using my NEW Medium Koi Water Brush from Sakura.  I like this brush better than the previous one I had - I just felt like I had more control over my coloring.

Tilda with Umbrella

Wow, another post from me today?  Yep, a rarity these days :)

I have a Magnolia card to share with you today!  It uses the Tilda with Umbrella stamp that was released in the Bon Voyage Collection.  I actually saw this stamp a long time ago (before the collection was released) on someone else's blog and was waiting for so long to be able to get it.  7 Kids College Fund now carries this stamp so why not go and pick it up?

I am also LOVING all the papers that are in the BasicGrey Olivia paper pad, which 7 Kids College Fund will have in stock soon.  Oh, and while you're there, you can also pick some of gemstones like the one I used in my card.  A girl like Tilda's gotta have some bling :)

A Magnolia Sunset

Hello again :)  Wow, my posting schedule has been really rocky these days.  I didn't even notice that I didn't post for a week and then, all of a sudden, three posts in one day!  Crazy few weeks lately :)

Today I'm sharing with you a card I made using two of the stamps released from the recent Magnolia Wedding Collection, which is currently available at 7 Kids College Fund.  I've used Tilda with Peony and the Wedding Background. I used a gate fold and used my Martha Stewart Scoring Board (which is HALF the price of a ScorPal, but produces much sharper lines) to score my lines.  Since this is a 5.5" square gate fold card, I scored along the length of the paper at 2.75" and 8.25".

I thought it would be fun to go with some bright, funky colors for these images so after I chose a few pieces of paper from my BasicGrey Kioshi pad, I gathered up my distress reinkers and got to work! It's super easy to match the inks to the paper colors because you can blend and mix the inks to get the perfect color. To distress the edges, I used my Tim Holtz Paper Distresser, which is a great value if you don't have one yet.  The reason why I say it's a great value is because the design of this paper distresser if very ergonomic.  There's a lot less stress on my fingers when I'm distressing the paper, as opposed to scissors or sand paper.  For those who have arthritis or pain, I highly recommend the Zutter Distrezz-It All because there's no strain on your fingers at all - the machine does all the distressing!  I used Stickles over the flowers and the water to give them some life :)  The dots on her cheeks were created using the Inkssentials Opaque White Pen.


I really love the versatility of these stamps because not only can you use them for wedding cards, but you also use them for summer cards, especially if you live by the beach like I do :)

A little romance

Wow, it's been AGES since I've posted a Magnolia card! I hardly ever get to use these cuties, but it doesn't stop me from buying them.  7 Kids has THE BEST deals on Magnolia stamps. Period.  Check out their great selection here!

Anywho, I'm sharing a card today made with Magnolia's Romantic Tilda, which you can get for pre-order at 7 Kids here.  I think this is one of my favorite Magnolia stamps - there's just something about her holding her little umbrella (or is it called a parasol?) that's just so sweet! I hung the heart charm (you can get some charms here) from a heart brad (you can find some brads here) and attached a black lace ribbon to give it a little touch of romance.  The ticket sentiment is from the Whimsy Stamps French Ticket Sentiments digital set.  Yep, we've got some digital versions of the rubber Ticket Sentiments!

Hello Tilda - My first easel :)

Happy Thursday! I just hope the rest of the week zooms on my because I am so tired! Can't wait to rest and head to San Diego to see family :)

Anywho, this is my first easel! The always-so-sweet Denise sent me over a smooth cardstock which I used to stamp Hello Tilda on. I gotta say, wow, is this what coloring with markers is supposed to be like? It blended so much better! That doesn't mean my coloring is perfect, but having the great paper didn't hurt! Thanks, Denise :)

Pirate Edwin!!

Just a quick post to share my Pirate Edwin card for some challenges!  I'm sooooo lucky to have joined the Magnolia-licious group because Diana had these stamps in her hands and in the Magnolia-licious Store last week.  Most of those who ordered got their stamps on Friday!

Oh, this is also my second card using the Distress Reinkers :)  I think I'm starting getting the hang of it!

Tilda Is Baking for your Birthday!

I finally made a Magnolia card!! It's been so long since I've made one, but I've really been wanting to make one because I recently joined the Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group and everyone is so inspiring!  For this card, I tried to follow Suzanne Dean's YouTube tutorial on how to use Copics to make it look like you colored with Distress Inks (click here for the first video).  I ordered some Distress Ink reinkers and a waterbrush so soon I'll be playing around with those!  Oh, not to mention some new Magnolia Stamps from Magnolia-licious, also ;)
